Jacob’s Blesses his sons on his Deathbed- Yoram Raanan

And He lived- This Parsha marks the final chapter in Jacob’s life and the Book of Genesis.

Jacob takes his final moments to wonder if indeed his life was worth living.  Was the struggle with God was successful.  Will Jacob’s understanding and embrace of the Divine survive him and those extraordinary values endure?

These are the questions we all confront at some point in our lives.  They are at the heart of the Ethical Will and Conversations for Life and Legacy®.  What will our legacy be?  Were our values truly embraced by those we sought to nurture and teach?

Jacob blesses his grandchildren Menashe and Ephraim and then blesses his sons.  These are blessings that only a nurturer, teacher, and exemplar can share.  They are not generalized hopes for good things, but blessings that share an intimate understanding of whom each individual is, their character and their potential.

This is the most precious gift we can leave. And Ethical Will are the final words and hopes, the culmination of life experiences and value we confirm are ours.  It is the true gift of love for those you love.  It is the enduring gift of Conversations for Life and Legacy.
